ABOUT THE ARTIST

Shannon Byrnes’ work delves into the layered complexities of self-perception, transformation, and the interplay between strength and vulnerability. Through bold, fragmented compositions and striking color contrasts, her portraits capture the emotional weight of identity and the evolving nature of womanhood. Light and shadow carve out intimate moments of introspection, while graphic elements disrupt and reconstruct the form, hinting at the tension between visibility and concealment. Rooted in both realism and abstraction, her paintings invite viewers to explore the psychological landscapes of your subjects—women who exist in a state of flux, resisting definition while embracing reinvention.

Originally from the East Coast, Shannon lives and works in San Francisco.
